Production Notes

Mas Des Quernes The Mas des Quernes is structured around a peasant mazet built at the beginning of the last century. The twenty plots all around are a collection of small plateaus, terraces, and hillsides separated by woods, olive trees, and dry stone walls. At the heart of the Terrasses du Larzac, Montpeyroux, west of Montpellier the lands are steep and fresher than the rest of Languedoc due to natural protection of the abrupt limestone cliffs and distance from the sea. It is no wonder that Pierre Natoli decided to settle in this superb landscape and now delivers wines true to their terroir. The domain is certified Organic since 2012 and continues to diversify their production and agricultural methods in order to preserve and sustain their 19 Acres. Works respectfuls of the soils and nature, the setup of insects hotels, bats nesting boxes and the culture of olive trees to battle soil erosion aim to deliver a prosperous future to this part ofnature. Made of a 100% Carignan grapes, “Le Blaireau” undergoes a carbonic maceration and a short fermentation as to retain its notes of stewed strawberries, cloves and hints of leather. A perfect partner for this charcuterie and cheese board night you've been willing to throw !

About the Wine

Mas des Quernes is built around a century-old peasant mazet in the Terrasses du Larzac at Montpeyroux, west of Montpellier — steep, cool land protected by abrupt limestone cliffs. Pierre Natoli settled here to make wines true to their terroir, organically farmed since 2012.
