Our Story
From Honfleur to Napa Valley
The only American wine shop based in France.
La Cave was founded by Frederick Boelen and Charles Duval on a simple idea: the best French wines never leave France. The small, family-run estates that make them are too tiny for the big importers, so Americans rarely get to taste them.
So we did something unusual. We based ourselves in France — in Normandy — to live where the wine is made. We drive to the vineyards, sit at the family table, and taste from the barrel. Then we import those wines directly to our community in the United States, with a Napa Valley presence since 2016.
Why it matters
Buying direct means no middlemen, fresher wine, and prices that reflect the bottle rather than the supply chain. It also means stories: when you open a bottle from La Cave, you know whose hands grew it.

That’s our whole philosophy. Not more wine — better wine, with the people and places behind it. The wine club is the heart of it.
