Production Notes

**Domaine BASSE VILLELes Barboires vineyard has 40+ year old vines of Melon and are trained for low yields. Very rich soil with sand-clay above a 'shales at two Micas' layer gives the wine elegance and finesse with aromas of candied fruit (apricots).Nothing but native yeasts, fermentation last six to eight weeks at controlled temperatures. This slow process allows aromas to grow complex and enables the terroir character to develop in the wine. At the balance between acidity and roundness, this wine has aging potential.

About the Wine

Domaine Basse Ville sits in La Chapelle-Heulin, in the heart of Sèvre et Maine, where the same family has made wine since the 16th century. Les Barboires grows 40-year-old Melon vines on sand-clay over mica schist; native-yeast fermented over six to eight weeks, it shows real elegance, finesse and ageing potential.
