Domaine des FAVARDS
100% 80 year-old carignan vines fermented in whole cluster. Rich and bold grapes are made in a fresh & fruity style - outcome is a phenomenal wine at balance between it's heritage and ambition to impress.
Fruity at first, silky tannins, powerful body & long length on the palate. Although this particular vineyard has extremely low yields, Celine Barbaud fought to keep producing this wine when she took over the reins of the family domain a few years ago.
This is the Domaine's flagship. Red colour, crisp, cherry-red highlights. Fine aromas, morello cherry aromas, black pepper aromas. Fruity flavours, cherry hints, soft tannin, silky tannin, round, powerful body, long length. Organic viticulture. Traditional hand picking into small crates. Whole grapes, Total carbonic maceration.
The Domaine des Favards is near Avignon in the Vaucluse Region and it has a clay-limestone-gravely soil. Stressed by the Mistral wind and the hot sun, vines produce low yields of high quality fruit. 60 acres of vineyards surround the Barbaud Family's gite, they farm it organically and produce two appellations: Cotes du Rhone & Cotes du Rhone Villages Plan de Dieu.
