Domaine LUCIEN & FANNY ROCAULT
This parcel faces south-east at about 350-380m of altitude that makes it one of the best of the appellation. The soil is chalky white marl, excellent to develop all the aromas and flavors of the Chardonnay. Since 1470, Lucien's ancestors say "Il faut y planter du blanc" meaning Chardonnay is the best grape for the terroir.
The vines are 30 years old and grown organically (like most of his vineyards). Lucien definitely let's nature affect his vines and change the wines from one year to the next.
On the nose, you'll find white stone aromas that lead to toasted/ grilled hay with exotic fruits. The palate is intense with a crisp yet delicate minerality that gives it length on the finish.
You can drink it now but also age for a decade or two to be fully developed.
